How often does the Foundation Board review requests? The board meets a minimum of once every quarter to review requests. Completed grant requests must be received by the Foundation at least 2 weeks prior to the board meeting to be included in that meetings review process.

What type programs or costs does the Foundation support? The Foundation supports programs that directly support the academic education of children in primary and secondary education and programs to provide meals or food to the hungry. The Foundation does not provide grants to cover charitable organizations administrative costs. The Foundation prefers to support proven programs as opposed to start-up programs or large capital campaigns.

Can a non-profit organization get products or Food Lion, LLC gift cards? No, the Food Lion Charitable Foundation only makes cash grants.

May individuals make grant requests? No, the Food Lion Charitable Foundation support 501(c) 3 public charities and private & public schools.

How much may I ask for? Most grants made by the Foundation range between $1,000 and $3,000. However you can ask for any amount. Please detail how the funds will be used. The Foundation reserves the right to award partial grants to support specific areas within a program for which a grant is made.

May I provide more information than is out-lined on the grant application? Yes, please include any information that you feel will aid the Foundation Board members in better understanding your organization and the programs purpose for which you are requesting funding.

Does the Foundation make multi-year grants? Yes, usually 3 to 5 year installments.

How often may I submit a grant request? Organizations may submit one grant request in any 12 month period
