Introduction & History Being a leading corporate citizen requires commitment to the community. Realizing this, Food Lion sought a way to strengthen and enrich the lives of people in the communities Food Lion serves. The Food Lion Charitable Foundation was established in 2001 as part of a charitable giving program to give financial support to community organizations in our 11-state operating area. Mission The Food Lion Charitable Foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to improving the communities in which Food Lion operates. | ||

In determining which programs to support, the Foundation considers the benefit to the community, other area programs supported recently, and whether those programs are similar to those currently being considered. In the past, Food Lion has given funds to individual schools and school programs, Meals on Wheels in Richmond, VA., the Food Bank of North Carolina, the Durham Public Education Network, Upper East Tennessee Head Start, Harvest Hope Food Bank in Columbia, S.C., and the Morehead Planetarium in Chapel Hill, N.C., among others. |
| Food Lion considers requests from worthy charities in Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Eligibility All contributions are made at the sole discretion of the Food Lion Charitable Foundation without consideration of race, creed, national origin, or gender. |
